Two Lawrence Residents Charged With TennCare Fraud
Authorities with the Tennessee Inspector General’s Office announced last week that two Lawrence County residents had been arrested on allegations of TennCare fraud.
According to a press release issued through that department on Tuesday, Gary W. Royse, 47, of Ethridge, and Callie Coretta Douglas, 48, of West Point, were arrested in unrelated incidents. Authorities allege that each obtained the prescription painkiller Lortab, using TennCare to pay for the drugs, then sold a portion of the pills.
Officials point out that TennCare fraud is a Class E felony, punishable by up to two years imprisonment.
